A scientific and philosophic rule that entities should not be multiplied unnecessarily which is interpreted as requiring that the simplest of competing theories be preferred to the more complex or that explanations of unknown phenomena be sought first in terms of known quantities.
“With all things being equal, the simplest explanation tends to be the right one.”
-William of Ockham
Boston-bred Hip Hop trifecta Grey Sky Appeal are proud to present their third album Occam's Razor. The seven-track EP is a collaborative effort with Chicago-based rapper Qwel of Typical Cats.
During 2011's Hunt and Gather tour throughout New England, Qwel recorded several verses over some unfinished beats by GSA producer Taj. After the tour ended, all three members of GSA relocated to Brooklyn, New York and continued to build upon the foundation that Qwel had created.
The remainder of Occam's Razor was recorded at the Converse Rubber Tracks studio and mixed and mastered at Adrian Grenier's Wreckroom Studio, both in Brooklyn.
The EP's single, 'Brains' already landed itself in an International Converse/Foot Locker Commercial which you can watch here.
Inspired by the principal that the simplest answer is often the correct one, Occam's Razor is a bold and adventurous rap record, fusing a vast array of styles and concepts that exemplify GSA's sonic wizardry. The new record addresses a kaleidoscope of content ranging from mindless music industry zombies to "honey chicken waffles".
